City Geisha’s Thought of The Day
This blog is mainly about beauty and makeup stuff with a regular sprinking of fitness rambling, but thought I should draw your attention to the mental aspect of life. After all, what good is there in looking good when you are not taking care of yourself from the inside out??
There is a lot to be said about positive thinking and I deeply believe in the Universal Law of Attraction, whereby like attracts like and as such, negative energy will attract negative energy and same will be said for positive energy.
This law is working in your life right now, whether you are aware of it or not and you are attracting the people, situations, jobs and much more into your life, so much more that is beyond your realm of understanding.
Also all too often, we are caught in the hustle and bustle of city life to stop and smell the roses and take stock of our lives. We forget to nurture our souls and we also forget to remember that we have the power within ourselves to be happy and that no one else, not even your partner will give you that because ultimately, happiness is found within YOU. It’s too easy to wake up in the morning to the dreadful noise of the alarm sounding off, stub our toes when getting out of bed and easily fall into a moody trap where everything seems to be going wrong that morning. However have a lie there in the morning for just 2 minutes to gather your thoughts and slowly awaken yourself from your slumber and repeat to yourself “I have a choice to either be happy today or to be miserable. I am able to control my emotions and not allow situations control them.”
Situations may not go according to our liking and plans and will vary from something as miniscule such as missing the mailman to something grander such as bereavement and we may feel that life is out to get us and control has been wrenched from our helpless hands.
However, let me tell you this, friend. A good friend of mine has recently had a death in the family and found comfort in a book called Quantum Wellness by Kathy Freston. She tells me that there is one line out of a chapter that really stood out for her and one that has become her motto for living:
“We are all healers.”
I’ve been thinking about this line a lot–thinking about how there’s a school of thought that would say, no, doctors are healers and we are powerless to heal ourselves or those around us, that healing occurs in hospitals and clinics only. But isn’t that so backwards? Doctors are great, yes, but still, I think it’s so important that we remember our (important!) role in in healing ourselves and helping others to heal.

My beautiful nephew
For example, I like to think that all of these things have healing effects: the healthy foods I choose to eat, the hugs I give to a dear friend, the tickles I give to my 9 year old nephew, the kisses I give to Mr X, the smile I offer to a sad-looking stranger on the street…. I really believe that all these little things do add up and the outcome = better health.
Remember, you are a healer, too! So, go heal thyself and others today!
Deep subject, eh for a Wednesday? But hell, I think it’s important to address our inner self as it’s our soul that continues to shine once our good looks fade.
Cheers to happiness! xoxo

Hey CG, this is by far the best post you have written, I love it, I am a firm believer in positivity. As Ghandi once said:
Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behaviours. Keep your behaviours positive because your behaviours become your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.

I also believe that we are all “healers” in one way or another, it has been scientifically proven that sick babies (that have been abandoned or rejected) have recovered a lot quicker and have a greater chance of survival if held and loved. Great article.
Your nephew is gorgeous!
Someone once told me that although we may not be able to control certain situtations or circumstances around us, we can control our emotional state. This post says it all.
GREAT POST !
you’re so beautiful on the inside !
i also saw a woman crying on the subway the other and i was a little bit far from her, i made some signs with my pocket tissues and she was surprised (me ?) and then smiling at me and i understand that was ok, sad but ok,happy that i care, so…good day then !
Great post, City Geisha
Oh Nicole, that is a beautiful story you just told. Sometimes all it takes is a nice, warming gesture from a complete stranger that makes people heal and makes them feel better. xoxo
Thanks everyone! =D xoxo
